Buy several together and pay less

These pieces reinforce each other: the brand sharpens the rollout, the dashboard keeps the plan moving.

Anything $497 and up can be split into two or three payments.

In their words

What changed for the artists we work with.

Real names, real projects, and links to their music.

Emma Zeck Emma Zeck, Gothic Americana

I've always known I needed to be an artist, but honestly I had no idea how to make my art viable enough to be a career. Now I can create and write without fearing that I'm running in place. We have a plan and the structure to turn my goals with music into a reality.

Adi Rao Adi Rao, Folk-Americana with traditional Indian roots

I had the vision but not the strategy to realize it. With Dougie, we broke everything down and rebuilt it from the ground up together. Now I have a plan and a process I trust, one that's getting me closer to my goals every day. And he genuinely cares.

Tobias Lund Tobias Lund, Singer-songwriter

Songs were pouring out, but I had a hard time packaging them in a way that felt true to me as an artist. Doug gave me honest feedback and an outside perspective on how I already move through the world, and now I have a clear branding strategy for my first album, the content, the cover art, and everything in between.

Ali Jangbar (Swim) Ali Jangbar (Swim), Soulful Alt-R&B

I was just writing songs, figuring I'd start releasing seriously at some point when I was ready - but I didn't actually know what the pathway was to being a successful indie artist, let alone what the next step was. Working with Dougie made the vision crystal clear, with an actual monthly roadmap of how to make it happen. Now I know concretely where we're headed and where I need to be spending my energy on a daily basis, and feel fully supported on what used to be a lonely journey. I feel like these couple years with WMP has grounded the dream and helped me more deeply focus on the only thing that really matters: making good art.

How it works

  1. Book the $49 call.
  2. A short form comes with your confirmation. Fill in what you can. We read it before we meet, so the call opens on your own catalog, dates and numbers.
  3. You get the exact scope and a fixed price in writing before paying anything, and that price is what you pay.
  4. We build it, then walk you through it live so you can run it yourself.

Built by someone who manages artists for a living.

Well Made Plays is run by Dougie Schmidt, an Austin manager and touring musician. Every service here was run with real artists before it was sold to anyone.

Questions, answered straight

Why is the first call paid?

To keep the calendar serious. It is $49, and it comes off the price of any project you book within 30 days, so it costs nothing if you go ahead.

What if it's not a fit?

Then we say so on the call and point you toward someone better suited. If you finish the call without a clearer next step than you came in with, tell us and we'll refund it. You're never on the hook to buy anything.

Do you take a commission or any rights?

No. We charge one flat fee and never take a percentage of your income, your masters, or your publishing. You pay for the work once, you own it, and we hand you the tools and the knowledge the business usually keeps out of artists' hands.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Anything $497 and up can split into two or three payments, arranged after your call. If cost is genuinely the only barrier to the Intensive, ask about the sliding scale.

What's the refund and reschedule policy?

Sessions moved or cancelled at least 24 hours ahead are refunded in full; inside 24 hours the fee is kept. Project work runs on a written scope with a deposit, agreed before you pay. The full terms live on one page here.

Do I have to be local?

No. The practice started in Austin and that's where you'll bump into us, but every service works remotely over video calls and shared documents.

How is this different from ongoing review?

This page is one-time project work you keep. Ongoing review is optional: every quarter we update the trackers, review the numbers, and reset the next tasks. Any project can roll into it, and nothing requires it.

What is the dashboard?

One page you open in a browser, built around your catalog and filled in before it reaches you. It shows your next release and what has to happen before that date, what you earned last month and where it came from, which shows are confirmed, and what is overdue. The larger build adds an Airtable base underneath it, where the detail lives that one screen cannot hold. Open a full example and click around it. Either size is yours to keep, so nothing switches off if you stop working with us.

Which one should I start with?

If collaborators keep asking what the project is, start with the Brand Workshop. If the next release, tour, or quarter needs a plan, start with the Intensive. If royalty accounts, splits, and reports are messy, start with the Royalty & Revenue Review. If everything is scattered, start with the Dashboard & Workspace.

We run a small label or agency. Can you work with our roster?

Yes. We build the same tools across a roster: a brand document for each act, a calendar for each release, dashboards, booking templates, and revenue checklists your team shares. Roster work is priced separately from the prices above. Email us about your roster.

Start with thirty minutes.

Come as you are: mid-release, mid-tour, or still figuring out where to start. Bring your links and your questions, and in thirty minutes we'll work out what to do first.

For managers, agencies, and labels

Manage more than one artist? We build the same tools for teams and labels: a plan for each act, a calendar for each release, and one dashboard for the whole roster. Email dougie@wellmadeplays.com and we'll send a one-page overview with pricing.
